EMDR

What is EMDR?

1

EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, and depression. I work with people who want to use EMDR to process past trauma or anxiety and depression symptoms. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (or eye movements) to address and process trauma to reduce trauma symptoms. EMDR has 8 phases-

Phase 1: History

Phase 2: Preparation

Phase 3: Assessment

Phase 4: Desensitization and Reprocessing

Phase 5: Installation

Phase 6: Closure

Phase 7: Body scan

Phase 8: Reevaluation

How do I get started?

2

You can reach out to discuss starting EMDR. EMDR requires assessments and consultation. EMDR can be done alongside talk therapy or alone.

Does insurance pay for EMDR?

3

Yes, most insurances pay for EMDR. If you have any specific questions, please reach out to your insurance to see if this is a paid service. Here are some ways you can talk to your insurance to ask if EMDR is covered:

Call your insurer: Ask if they cover CPT codes 90834 (45-min) or 90837 (60-min) for EMDR. Ask about outpatient mental health benefits or psychotherapy: Specifically check your deductible, co-insurance, and session limits.

If you don’t want to use your insurance you can pay out of pocket for EMDR.
